There has been enough interest for FAMC to start a Diabetes Support Group
for individuals with Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes. FAMC will use funds from
a Diabetes Self Management Grant received in 2006 to offset the costs of the
Support Group in order to provide it free of charge to it's participants.
The Support Group will provide opportunities for individuals to get together and
discuss topics related to diabetes. Individuals in the group do not have
to be diagnosed with diabetes. They can be a caretaker or family member of
a person with diabetes. Topics discussed will range from nutrition and
exercise to medication options. Each meeting will be a group discussion
format run by a FAMC facilitator. This will give participants the option
to discuss what works for them in any given situation. The program is
provided free of charge to individuals with diabetes or individuals who care for
people with diabetes. Advanced registration
is requested. For more information, please contact April Sorensen,
Education Coordinator at FAMC 605-598-6239.
