Bone Density Scans (Dexa
scans)
Bone mineral density testing is used to evaluate and
diagnose osteoporosis. This study can measure changes in bone density as
well as provide an accurate picture of the risk of future fractures. It is
painless and fast. It takes about 15 minutes for each scan. Your
doctor will discuss the results with you during your follow-up visit.
Bone density scans are provided on a monthly
basis by an outreach service.
